Doors Open Toronto: Entertainment is King!
Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
South sidewalk of King Street, directly across from the Royal Alexandra Theatre
Toronto is home to some of the most important performance halls in the country, and King Street is at the heart of what has become the third largest English-speaking theatre district and the epicentre of one of the largest international film festivals in the world. Come take a walk with the Toronto Society of Architects as we explore the past, present and future of this cultural hub through its architecture, exploring the stories behind the exciting (and sometimes controversial) buildings designed to house the arts. From Beaux Arts classics to glass-clad performance halls, we’ll share the ideas and ambitions that shaped them all. Along the way we will uncover some of the gems hidden in plain sight and get a glimpse into the future of this entertainment corridor.
